Brought to you by reThink Green and the Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury
Are you interested in learning more about environmental initiatives happening across Sudbury and visiting and experiencing sustainable eco-sites first hand? Then reThink Green’s Sustainable Sudbury Ecotour is something you do not want to miss!
On Saturday May 12th, you have the opportunity (free of charge!) to take part in one of two guided bus tours OR plan your own self-guided route to explore on your own. Please see map and tables below for site descriptions and tour times. We encourage everyone to take the challenge to walk, bike, and/or bus to your destinations. A separate cycling tour led by the Sudbury Cyclists Union if also being offered (scroll down for details)!
If planning a self-guided route, be sure to take part in additional activities that have not been included on the bus tours: The ‘Walkable Neighbourhood’ guided walking tour of the Donovan, led by the Coalition for a Livable Sudbury departing at 11am from Victory Park; as well as a guided hike through a newly establish inner city green space often referred to as ‘The Mountain’, and located behind the former St. Michael’s School, departing from the trailhead at the south end of St. Nicholas St. at 12:30pm. Residents living in the Roxborough Greenbelt area are especially encouraged to walk over and partake in this ‘backyard’ hike and learn about the importance of protected green spaces in Sudbury.
Both bus tours will take a better part of a day and conclude back at Victory Park where River & Sky Arts in the Woods will be hosting The Big Recycle Yard Sale fundraiser and Myths and Mirrors will be leading Artful Transformations – a community art project utilizing salvaged materials otherwise destined for the landfill. Be sure to check it out before you head home!
To book your (FREE) spot on a guided tour bus, please contact reThink Green at 705.674.1685 or

. Bus tours will begin at Victory Park on Frood Road at 10am and run through until approximately 4pm. Participants are asked to pack their own litterless lunch and beverages.

Also included in green are stops that are not part of our guided tour, but would be worth checking out!

Sudbury Cyclists Union EcoTour!
In conjunction with reThink Green's walking, bus, and self-guided sustainability tours, the SCU has mapped out a Cycling tour.
While the tour sites will be operating all day, the SCU will be holding a group ride leaving from Victory Park at ~11am.
Stops will include the Ste. Anne Community Garden, a short hike of the hilltop greenspace at the south end of St. Nicolas (off Wembley; 12:30pm), Science North's naturalized shoreline, and ending at the Living with Lakes Centre in time for a guided tour of the facilities (2pm)!
Here's a google map of the SCU's Group Ride Route:

Also note there will be a guided hike on Donovan Mountain by Dr. Peter Beckett starting from Victory Park at 10 am, art activities for all ages running all day courtesy of Myths and Mirrors, and a yard sale hosted by River & Sky Arts in the Woods, so if you want to show up early, there will things to do until the ride starts! |
